Delicious Chicken Chap

1 kg (2 Lbs) Chicken cut into medium sized pieces
250 gms (0.5 Lbs) onions finely chopped
1 tablespoon ginger paste
1 tablespoon garlic paste
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp chilli powder
3 cloves 6 each black and white pepper (whole)
4 green chillies chopped
2 big cardamoms
200 gms ( 0.4 Lbs) yogurt
1 tsp garam masala
1 tsp Pulao masala
2 tsp Rose water
4 bay leaves 1 tsp sugar Salt to taste


1. Marinate the chicken with ginger, garlic, yogurt, pulao masala and salt for 4 hours.
2. Heat oil in a pan and add bay leaves and sugar to the oil.
3.Add onion to the mix and fry till it becomes golden brown.
4. Add the marinated chicken to the mix and fry for 5 minutes.
5. Close the lid of the pan and steam for 10 - 15 minutes till the chicken becomes tender. 6. Do not add water.
7. Open the lid and add chilli powder, cloves, pepper, green chillies, cardamom, pulao masala, rose water and garam masala
8. Stir the mix thoroughly.
9. Cover and cook for 3 – 4 minutes more.
10. Serve the dish hot.
